Food Lion Deal: Breyer’s Ice Cream 4/$2.96
Update: FREE Breyers. See below!
I stopped by Food Lion today for some milk and was so excited about this deal.
Save $5 instantly when you spend $20 on participating Unilever products. The Breyers ice creams are regularly over $6 each but they are on sale for $1.99. Buy four of them and get an instant $5 off your purchase. There is a limit of four Breyers ice creams per visit.
4 Breyers ice cream at $1.99 each = $7.96
-$5 instant savings = $2.96 for four or $.74 each
I was surprised that this deal worked since the ice cream is on sale. Hopefully it will for you too. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
Update: Like Breyers on facebook and you can get printable coupons to save $1.50/2. Be sure to hit the back button so that you can print two coupons.

Wordy Wednesday: A Note for Food Lion
Dear Food Lion,
I miss your old signs.
Your old sale signs were simple and to the point. On this tag I can clearly see that the price is $.99. If I need a little help figuring out my savings, then it tells me in small print at the bottom.
These new signs you’re displaying are too busy. When walking down the aisles I should be able to read the signs quickly without completely stopping. Even though I am a quick reader, I find myself stopping, scanning all around the shelves, and trying to figure out the best deal amongst all of the other assiduous tags.
I am a loyal shopper and have been for many years, even from your early beginning years as Food Town. I hope that in the future the changes made to your store will be more user-friendly and convenient for shoppers.

Stockpile Opportunity: Sweet Potatoes
It’s time to stockpile sweet potatoes. I’ve been waiting for a big sale and Walmart has them for only $.28/lb.
Each year, I make a sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This reminds me . . . I need to share that recipe with you soon. Today I purchased about 10 lb of sweet potatoes from Walmart. Food Lion also has them on sale for $.33-.49/lb, depending on your area.
In case you’re wondering, sweet potatoes are usually on sale again for Christmas.

Food Lion Deals 10/3/10
Tonight I had to run out to return a Redbox dvd and decided to go into Food Lion for a few minutes. I wanted to see if they had restocked the Kraft cheese since I had another $5 coupon to use before Tuesday.
I ended up with 5 Kraft cheese, 13 boxes Ronzoni pasta, and 2 boxes of Uncle Ben’s rice for only $4.68. Here’s how I saved $27.84:
5 Kraft cheese, buy 1 get 1 free
-used $5 printable coupon
10 Ronzoni pasta (blue box), buy 1 get 1 free
-used five $1 off 2 (from in-store blinkie machine)
3 Ronzoni garden pasta, sale $1/box
-used three $.50 box peelies
2 Uncle Ben’s rice, sale $1.19/box
-used two $1 (from in-store blinkie machines)
I was pleased with the deals from a random store trip. We don’t eat much pasta in our house, so I will use some of the spaghetti noodles for the food drive and I will save the rotini noodles for pasta salad.
Have you found any great deals lately?

Today’s Food Lion Deals 10/2/10
I wrote to you earlier this week about a fabulous $5 Kraft coupon. I took my $5 Kraft coupon to Food Lion today. The shredded cheese was on sale buy 1 get 1 free which made them $1.39 each. The cream cheese was buy 1 get 1 free which made it $1 each. I ended up with 4 bags of cheese and 1 cream cheese. After my $5 off 5 Kraft items coupon, my pre-tax total was $1.56. I have another $5 Kraft coupon but will save it to use in a few days after they have restocked the shelves. Sorry for the bad picture, but I was unloading groceries, cooking dinner, and trying to let you know about this deal. Too much multi-tasking.
I have also heard that Harris Teeter has the Kraft cheese bogo this week. I chose to purchase my cheese at Food Lion though because Harris Teeter prices are usually higher.

Stockpile Opportunity: Bumble Bee Tuna
Food Lion has Bumble Bee cans of tuna 2/$1.00. It’s a good time to stockpile tuna for the pantry while it’s almost half price.
I went to Food Lion tonight and purchased 12 cans. When I was leaving the store, I found a coupon on the sidewalk. The coupon was for $1.50 off a purchase of chicken, beef, or tuna. I went back in the store and got three more cans for free.
I can’t imagine why someone would throw away coupons like that. Oh well.
Also, there are three Bumble Bee coupons in today’s Sunday paper. One of the coupons is good for $1 off two Bumble Bee pouches. The pouches are only $.65 at Walmart for the 2.5 oz. After the coupon, the pouches are $.15 each. That’s a great deal!

FREE Kraft Salad Dressing at Food Lion
Last week the Kraft vendor left some $.55 coupons for salad dressing. I picked up a few because I knew this week they were having a Kraft sale.
Buy 5 Kraft dressings and get $5.00 off your purchase PLUS get a $3 Catalina.
*A Catalina is a coupon that can be used on your next in-store purchase. They’re kind of like Extra Care Bucks.
The Kraft dressings are on sale 3/$5 or $1.67 each.
I used five $.55 coupons from the vendor.
$1.67 x 5 = $8.35 – $2.75 in coupons = $5.60
Receive a $5 instant credit on your order.
This makes the purchase amount only $.60 PLUS you get back a $3 Catalina.
Out of Pocket: -$2.40
You can also use the $.55 coupon from 5/2/10 Smart Source.
Even if you don’t have the $2.75 in coupons this deal is still almost free, after the $3 Catalina.
I’m not sure when this sale ends (maybe Tuesday), so hurry!
Thanks to Tina for reminding me about the Kraft sale!
