Hi there. I’m Karen Weideman.  Thanks for stopping by The Thrifty Mommy. If you’re here, that means you want to know a little bit more about me.

My frugal roots run deep. I can remember my mom clipping coupons, looking through sales papers, shopping clearance racks, pinching pennies, rolling coins, and buying things when they were at their lowest prices. She taught me to comparison shop, request a refund for overcharges, and to be a smart shopper.

Although The Thrifty Mommy was started in March 2010, I have been blogging about finances and saving money since September 2006!  Here you’ll find financial advice, money saving tips, coupon match-ups, sales, easy recipes, and more. I love to receive comments so please let me know if you have any questions or a topic that you’d like to see covered.

When I’m not blogging and saving money, I’m a wife to Gerald and mom to three children. You’ll see me refer to my kids as Jay Bird (male, 11 years), Alligator Girl (female, 6 years), and Cuddlebug (male, 4 years). Before I had kids I was a teacher, but I continue to stay active in the school system by substitute teaching.
