I’ve been out of school/work for almost two weeks. Some of you may be wondering what happened to me and The Thrifty Mommy. To catch you all up on this year I’ll give a condensed update.
Last year we were living on the water and working as caretakers for a large piece of property. All of the sudden our landlord wants us out and he means now. Come to find out the property next to us was being developed. Maybe he thought they might buy his too, I don’t know. Nevertheless, our family was hurt and left scrambling to figure out what our next step was. We were hoping to purchase a house but we live near the beach and coastal property is really expensive. Two years ago we relocated and sold our beautiful Cape Cod with over 2 acres for way less than we could get anything comparable here.
We began a major search for a nice house but realized we wouldn’t be able to find what we wanted in such a short amount of time. We hesitantly agreed to a temporary rental while we searched. That meant moving TWO times. Ugh! The thought and the memories causes a wave of anxiety. On top of all that, I started a new grade level. I switched from being a self-contained special needs teacher to a regular ed teacher. Put Common Core in all of that and I was a mess! House hunting, getting kicked out, buying a house, two moves, new grade level, Common Core . . . and I am alive to tell about it.
Oh and I some how forgot to mention that two close family members have had some serious health issues. There are nights that I was traveling and at the hospital until 10 or 11 pm. This alone was physically and mentally exhausting for us all.
As you can imagine, there hasn’t been any extra time in my schedule for blogging. I have been trying to stay afloat with every day life. I miss blogging and I miss you all.
I have been out of work for nearly two weeks. I have taken some time to do some major decluttering, cleaning, cooking, and also some time to be lazy.
I think I’m ready to get back into blogging. I’ve had some money saving ideas churning around in my head for the past few days. Is there anything particular you’d like to see as a topic? Let me know.
Until then . . .
